Description

The lime kiln, dating from the 19th century, is a large cylindrical structure standing 15 metres high, built of random rubble. It features a wide opening at the base that leads to a narrower opening one metre above the ground. The land rises steeply behind the kiln. The chimney has been blocked with rubble, leaving only a slight depression in the ground at the top of the kiln. This kiln is one of a pair located approximately 30 metres apart and is one of the few early industrial remains in this once heavily worked valley.
