Description
Creeting St Peter War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1920, located in the churchyard to the south of the Church of St Peter, which is a Grade I-listed building.
The memorial is made of rough-hewn, grey Cornish granite and features a wheel-head cross that rises from a tapering plinth, all resting on a single-step stone base. The east face of the cross shaft and plinth displays inscriptions and names in leaded lettering, set within smooth recessed panels. The panel at the base of the shaft reads, "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF," and the inscription continues on the panel directly below on the plinth, stating, "THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919 (6 NAMES) FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH."
