Description

This is a road sign located about 45 metres north of Castle Farmhouse, dating from 1907. It features cast iron plates mounted on a rolled steel T-post. The top triangular plate has "SAC" cast into its bottom member, while the rectangular plate below reads "STOKE UNDER HAM/ SLOW". The back of the sign displays the caster's name, W and F Wills, Bridgwater, which ceased operations in 1983. This sign is one of 36 donated by the Somerset Automobile Club and was accepted by the County Council in 1907, with installation costs covered by the Club.
