Description
The horse engine house, located about 50 meters north-northwest of Townsend Farmhouse, is a disused structure dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is built from local stone random rubble and features a pyramid thatched roof with slates above the eaves on the west front. The building has a roughly oval plan with an entrance on the north front. It is illuminated by a three-bay loggia on the west front, although the lower courses have been filled in. A beam for the engine remains in place. At the time of the survey in May 1984, the building was noted to be in poor condition.
