Description

A pair of semi-detached cottages dating from the 18th century, located in Carhampton village. The cottages are constructed from red sandstone and lias random rubble, with a clay tile roof, overhanging eaves, and stone stacks to the gable ends. The plan is based on a single-cell design.

The cottages are two storeys high and four bays wide. The first floor has two-light leaded iron casements, with one renewed and one retaining quadrant stays. The ground floor has voussoirs to the openings, with three-light casements in the outer bays. One ground floor casement has quadrant stays. The center two bays feature segmental leaded plank doors, with inserted lights.

The cottages form part of a group with a range of farm buildings to the north-east, which are part of Townsend Farm.
