Description
Tavens is a semi-detached house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, possibly incorporating part of an earlier dwelling. The building is rendered over rubble and features pilaster quoin strips, a shallow pitch slate roof, and brick stacks at the right gable end. The plan consists of a double pile with a wing at the rear. It stands two storeys high and has three bays, with 16-pane sash windows. The central entrance is a raised and fielded 6-panel door with two inserted lights, topped by a slate pentice hood porch. On the right return gable end, there is an early 19th-century leaded iron 2-light casement window on the first floor, and another 2-light casement window on the ground floor in the gable end to the rear, which has a lean-to addition beyond.
