Description
The socket of a churchyard cross, dating from the late 14th century, is located in the churchyard 10 metres south of the south porch of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. It is made of dressed sandstone and has an octagonal shape with recessed facings. The upper bed features a heavy weatherdrip, while the lower part has a bold offset. There is also a section of a broken octagonal shaft inset into the socket. This structure is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, listed as Somerset County No 225.
