Description
This is a 19th-century milestone located in Bratton Seymour. It is made of Ham stone and features a cast iron plaque. The pillar measures 400 millimeters wide, 300 millimeters thick, and stands 1 meter high. The plaque is 375 millimeters wide and 440 millimeters high, with a shouldered curved top and a double cyma-recta base. The inscription on the plaque reads "Wincanton" on the curve and "3/Castle Cary/3". The road where this milestone is situated was turnpiked by the Wincanton Trust in 1798.
