The stone measures about 400 millimeters wide, 250 millimeters thick, and approximately 600 millimeters tall, with the base well buried. It has a moulded top that shows recent impact damage. The plaque is about 400 millimeters wide and 500 millimeters deep, featuring a shouldered semi-circular top and a double ogee base. It reads "Wincanton" on the curve and "2 Ilchester 11" in incised letters. This road has been maintained by the Wincanton Trust since 1756.
