3/36 Milestone at NGR ST 6894 2692 II

Milestone. Probably C19. Doulting stone with cast iron plaque. Stone about 400mm wide and 250mm thick and some 600.0 tall, being well buried at base; moulded top showing recent impact damage. Plaque about 400mm wide and 500mm deep, with shouldered seni-cirular top and double ogee base, and reads "Wincanton"-on curve-"2 Ilchester 11" in incised letters. This road was maintained by the Wincanton Trust fron 1756.
