Milestone. Probably early C19. Local stone, with cast iron plaque. Pillar about 400mm wide, tapering, 150mm thick, and 800mm tall with rounded top : plaque 400mm wide x 500mm deep, with shouldered curved top and double curved base, reads "Wincanton" - on curve - "5 Sherborne 5". This road was administered by the Shaftesbury and Sherborne Trust from 1753. (Sherborne only after 1801).
