Description

Nos. 647 and 648 on Main Road are a pair of cottages built around 1840. They are constructed from local stone rubble with plain ashlar quoins and feature a Welsh slate roof with plain bargeboarded gables, topped by a central brick chimney stack. The cottages are two storeys high and each has two bays, with the two centre bays projecting and forming a double gable. The outer bays have plain boarded doors, with the door to no. 648 featuring a glazed panel, and there is no porch or window above. The inner bays are fitted with 30-pane horizontal sliding sash windows in plain raised ashlar surrounds. The interiors have not been seen. These cottages are prominently located opposite the Church of SS Peter and Paul.
