Description

Manor Farm House is a manor house built in 1608. It is constructed from local stone ashlar and features plain clay tiles over stone slate base courses between coped gables. Some of the chimney stacks are made of stone with moulded caps, while others are rendered brickwork. The building has a double roof plan, with a projecting two-storey north porch and a semi-circular stair turret on the east side.

The house has two storeys, cellars, and attics, and consists of five bays. It has a plinth and continuous strings over the windows at both levels. The windows are hollow chamfered, with mullions and transoms: there are four-light windows below and three-light windows above in the outer bays, and two-light windows at both levels in bays two and four. The projecting porch in bay three has slightly pitched coping and features a semi-circular arched opening with impost blocks, a keystone, and a decorated arch, flanked by two semi-circular shell niches. It also has a strapwork frieze and band course, a cartouche of arms, and a three-light mullioned and transomed window. The side and rear elevations match the front.

Inside, the interior has been drastically changed, but the entrance hall retains original two-and-six-panel doors, a dado, and a carved archway at the rear. The windows in the northwest room still have their shutters, and both stairways appear to be from the 17th century.
