Description
The Former Vicarage is a private house that was originally built around 1840, incorporating some earlier elements. It is constructed from local stone ashlar and features a pyramidal hipped Welsh slate roof with a wide eaves overhang. The building has two storeys and is arranged in a three-bay by three-bay layout. It includes a plinth and a band course between the floors, with plain raised surrounds to the two-light horizontal bar casements. There is a matching French door on the west side and a slightly recessed entrance door on the south side, both located in the middle bays. On the east side, there is a single-storey extension added in the late 20th century.
The interior, inspected in January 1977, contains two staircases: one from the late 18th century and another from around 1840. In the cellar, framed by two relieving arches, there is a medieval well that is nearly three metres in diameter, with a five-metre drop and six metres of water, featuring rubble-lined walls. Near the kitchen extension, there is also a rubble-lined shaft about four metres deep that reaches bedrock.
