GV II

House at end of row, formerly coach house to No.4. Early C19. The twin-gabled building, with central valley, faces S into a small triangular courtyard adjoining No.2 (qv). Local stone rubble, triple roll clay tiled roof, brick chimney stacks. Double-depth plan. EXTERIOR: street elevation plain, except for a small rooflight. South elevation of 2 gables, 2 storeys, with C20 small pane casement windows, and plain boarded doors to each gable, set in heavy frames, that nearest road has a rectangular fanlight over, ground floor openings have segmental brick arches. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: extending from SW corner, in the plane of the outer wall, is a 2.7m high boundary wall, rendered, with soldier stone capping, with an angled recess with 2 ashlar square gate piers, plain with chamfered plinth and pyramidal caps, and small stone stops to scrolled heads, on which are hung late C20 wrought-iron gates. Rubble walls also connect the rear of the frontage to the rear of No.2 (qv), including 2 simple arched openings. The enclosed yard is paved with setts. Included for contribution to a good group of listed buildings.
