Description
Henstridge House is a house located on New Street in Wells, dating from the early 19th century, with some modifications made in the early 20th century. The building is rendered and colourwashed over rubble, featuring an interlocking concrete tiled roof that has a plain gable on the south side and is partly hipped on the north side, along with brick end chimney stacks. It has a double-depth plan.
The exterior of the house is two storeys high with an attic and consists of three bays. It has a plinth and exposed rafter ends that create a quasi-dentil effect. The plain sash windows are set within broad moulded architraves. In the lower bay three, there is a two-panel door that is accessed by one step, featuring a plain rectangular transom-light. This door is framed by Doric pilasters and a plain entablature with a flat cornice hood. Centrally located in the roof is a wide dormer window with three sashes, which has single-light returns under a segmental roof, along with a tile-hung apron and cheeks.
The interior has not been inspected. The building is slightly set forward from the adjoining property, No. 6.
