Description

This building, consisting of numbers 29 and 29A Market Street, is a house, now used as shops, built in the late 18th or early 19th century, with later alterations. The exterior is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with lintels, cills, incised pilasters, and a moulded eaves cornice made of Ham Hill stone on the first floor. The roof is covered in plain tiles, and there are no chimney stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and is arranged with a five-window front. The first floor has horned 6/6-pane sash windows with forward frames. A section of the right-hand wall is stuccoed to the level of the lintel. The two shop fronts contain recessed late 19th-century doors with overlights, although the windows and fascias are from the mid- and late-20th century. The interior was not inspected.
