Description
No. 20 Market Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and is constructed of coursed and squared limestone. The first-floor windows feature raised stone surrounds, while the ground floor windows and doorcases are made of reconstructed stone. The building has a slate roof with stepped stone coping and brick stacks at the gable ends, as well as a brick ridge stack located towards the right of the center. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall, with a three-window range. The first-floor windows are modern, featuring 20th-century horned 2/2-pane sashes. The ground floor includes four fixed plate-glass windows, with one on the far left and three in the center and right. To the right is a 20th-century door set in a raised architrave, and to the left is a 20th-century pedimented doorcase with Tuscan pilasters. The interior has been noted to be altered.
