Description
No. 2 East Street is a house dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof, featuring a Ham Hill stone plinth, stepped coping on the gable ends, and a moulded eaves cornice and doorcase. The building has no stacks and follows a double-depth plan. It stands two storeys tall with a symmetrical three-window arrangement. All windows have flat gauged stone arches and forward frames. The first floor features mid 19th century eight-over-eight-pane sash windows, while the ground floor has a paired six-over-six-pane sash window to the right and a 20th-century window to the left. The pedimented doorcase is adorned with Tuscan pilasters and includes a six-panel door. Inside, the ground-floor room to the right contains a segmental-arched recess with a moulded keystone, and a cupboard below it with raised and fielded panels. The room to the left has an enriched reeded cornice.
