Description
29 Market Square is a house and shop dating from the early 19th century. It is built of coursed limestone rubble and has a plain tile roof. The building has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high, featuring a one-window range to the left of the shop. On the far left, there is a six-panel door that is glazed to the top. To the inside left, there are late 19th-century two-over-two-pane sash windows on both floors, all set under stone lintels. The right half of the building, almost reaching the eaves, features a late 19th-century shopfront. This shopfront includes a glazed set-back door and a tall overlight to its left, with two plate-glass panes to the right that have segmental-arched glazing bars connecting the colonnettes, along with a moulded cornice on the fascia. The facade steps slightly back to meet No. 31. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
