Description
Number 37 is a house that has been converted into a bank, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed from Ham Hill stone ashlar and features a slate roof, with an L-shaped plan. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical five-window arrangement. All windows are adorned with moulded architraves and keystones; the first-floor windows have 6/6 panes, while the ground floor has 20th-century horned plate-glass sashes. The central doorcase is designed in a Tuscan style with an entablature, and to the far right, there is a higher 20th-century door set within a moulded architrave, topped with a projecting floating cornice. The interior has been noted as altered. Surrounding the building are four sections of spearhead railings that enclose narrow forecourts, curving back to meet the building at the doors and at the far left window, which serves as a cash point.
