Description
This is a house, now a house and shop, dating from the early 19th century, although with origins from an earlier period. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, colourwashed to the front, with part of the left gable rebuilt in brick. It has a gabled concrete tile roof and a brick end stack. The original plan comprised two units. The house is three storeys high and has a two-window range. The ground floor features two 17th-century windows with chamfered stone-mullions, each having two lights and flat stone arches over 6-pane sashes. A 2-light casement window is set into a wood-mullioned window on the first floor. To the right is an early 19th century range of similar materials, with a brick ridge stack. This range features a timber lintel over a 20th-century door to the right, and a late 19th-century shop front with a door to the left. An outbuilding, likely a former stable, is located to the right, constructed of similar materials and featuring a plank loft door. The rear of the property includes 19th-century outshuts and a short 18th-century gabled wing of similar materials. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
