Description

No. 6 Harrisons Lane is a house dating from the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled concrete tile roof with brick stacks at the ends. The building has an L-plan layout with a rear right wing and stands two storeys tall, presenting a two-window range.

The front entrance has a flat early 19th-century brick arch with brick jambs, leading to a 20th-century door that is sheltered by a flat hood supported by wrought-iron brackets. To the left of the door are mid-19th-century six-pane horned sash windows, which also have similar architraves. The first floor has 20th-century windows with timber lintels above. A small gabled roof dormer from the 19th century is also present.

The rear wing, built in the 18th century with similar materials, includes a one-storey extension that has a 20th-century roughcast finish on the left side. To the left of the main house is a tall two-storey extension, also from the 18th century, featuring a brick end stack and a 20th-century roughcast finish. The upper storey of this extension was remodelled in the mid-19th century and has horned sashes on the left end wall.

Inside, there is an 18th-century four-panelled door set in a chamfered wood architrave at the rear of the passage. The boxed quarter-turn stairs with winders are adorned with a moulded cornice and a panelled door. The interior also features chamfered beams and a butt-purlin roof.
