Description
No. 40 Gloucester Street is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed from squared, coursed limestone rubble, featuring brick gable stacks and a stone slate roof. The building has a single-depth plan with a rear wing and consists of two storeys, an attic, and a basement, arranged in a two-window range. The symmetrical front showcases a timber doorcase with panelled jambs and a gabled hood adorned with ogee barge boards, leading to a six-panel door. The windows include 8/8-pane sashes with cambered heads and two dormers with horizontal sliding sashes, while there is a grill on the basement window. At the rear, there is a two-storey gabled range. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to include stone fire surrounds, a central stair, and a basement room.
