Description

A pair of mid-19th century houses with shops, situated to the southwest of Malmesbury Abbey churchyard. The buildings are constructed of rendered brick and rubble, with a slate roof and brick stacks. They follow a double-depth plan and have three storeys, presenting a four-window facade. The windows are 2/2-pane sashes. A doorway is located on the left-hand side. The ground floor features a mid-19th century pilastered shop front with console brackets to number 32 and a colonnette glazing bar design to the corners of the central entrance to number 34. Later 20th-century extensions have been added to the rear. The interior retains some original 19th-century joinery. The facade represents a complete 19th-century example, incorporating original shop fronts and holding a prominent position within the streetscape.
