Description
48 Gloucester Street is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with earlier origins. It is constructed of rendered limestone rubble, featuring brick ridge stacks and a stone slate roof. The building has a single-depth plan and stands two storeys tall with a basement, presenting a three-window range. The symmetrical front has a raised ground floor, with steps leading up to a doorway that features a 20th-century timber canopy and a panelled door. The windows are 8/8-pane sashes with cambered heads, although the middle window is blocked. To the left, there is a single-storey and basement, one-window section that is part of the former terrace of Nos 46 and 46A. The roof extends to the late 17th-century building at No. 50 on the right. Inside, there is a left-hand front winder stair leading to the basement.
