Description
The shelter sheds and barn adjoining Coles Cottage are located in Flaxpool, Crowcombe, and are likely from the late 18th century. The shelter sheds are constructed from red sandstone random rubble and feature a double Roman tiled roof that is hipped at the junction with Coles Cottage. The structure has an L-plan with five bays, three of which have round stone piers, while the others are supported by wooden posts. The west side returns with six bays that have similar stone piers and one wooden support. The threshing barn is situated on the east side of the fold yard, also made of red sandstone random rubble, and has a corrugated iron roof with double doors. It is connected at the northeast corner by a thatched, single bay building that includes a stable door. The listing emphasizes the group value of these structures with Coles Cottage.
