Description
Hillside is a cottage dating from the 17th century, which was restored in the late 20th century. It is rendered, likely over cob, with a thatched roof that is hipped to the left. There are brick stacks at the right gable end and over the second bay on the left. The original layout is unclear, but it now consists of three cells with an outshot at the rear and an entrance on the left return. The cottage is one and a half storeys high and has four bays. It features 20th-century wooden dormer casement windows, and the ground floor has irregularly placed fenestration. The second bay on the left has a three-light casement window with remnants of octagonal mullions and a stall glazed opening higher to the left. To the right, there are 20th-century three, four, and two-light casement windows. The entrance on the left return has a 20th-century plank door and a hipped thatched rustic porch. The left end wall may have been rebuilt. The interior, which was partially viewed, includes hollow chamfered beads in the end room on the right, a chamfered lintel above the fireplace, and the bay to the right may be the original stair bay, featuring chamfered beams with stops in the center.
