Nos 22, 23 And 24, And Well Cover 2 Metres South Of No 22

Nos 22, 23, and 24 are a row of three cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from local lias stone, which is cut and squared, and feature a clay pantiled roof with coped gables and stone chimney stacks. Each cottage is two storeys high and has two bays. The lower windows consist of two or three light small paned casements set in segmental arched openings, with horizontal bar casements above. The lower bays 2, 3, and the space between bays 5 and 6 have boarded doors, each with timber and tiled hoods. There is a lean-to extension against the east gable of No 24. Although the interiors have not been seen, there is a well and cover located 2 metres south of No 22. This well features a stone flag base and a tiled timber cover, and it still has a chain and bucket. This group of cottages forms a good early 19th-century ensemble with the nearby Kingweston Post Office, Jasmin Cottage, and No 21 Lower Street.
