Description
This is an early 19th-century shop with attached living accommodation, situated on a corner plot in West Street, Ilminster. The building’s construction incorporates rendered rubble on the section at number 34, with Ham Hill ashlar facing numbers 28 to 32. It has a Welsh slate roof and brick end and ridge stacks. The building is four windows wide at numbers 34 and 28-32. A semicircular-arched doorway is centrally located, with shop fronts flanking it, the one to the left facing onto New Road. The building was restored in 1992, at which time the shop front and sash windows were renewed. Numbers 28 to 32 feature late 20th-century windows, 20th-century doors with overlights, and a late 19th-century shop front to the left. The building is listed for its group value.
