Description
Woodbine Cottage is a semi-detached house dating from the early 19th century. It features a ham stone ashlar facade, with coursed rubble on the sides and rear, and a Welsh slate roof that has a shallow pitch between coped gables. The house has a brick chimney that sits on stone bases. It is two storeys high with three bays. The windows are sash style, consisting of 16 panes set in plain openings. In the lower bay two, there is a four-fielded-panel door within a plain opening, which is sheltered by a timber lattice porch topped with a bell-hip sheet metal roof. The interior has not been seen.
At each corner of the house, there is a projecting stone wall with angled coping that rises about one metre high. Between these walls, railings extend across the frontage, featuring alternate small loops and arrowheads set on a low stone wall, although the gate is missing. These elements enhance the setting of the house, which is prominently located facing down South Street towards the entrance of Montacute House.
