Description
Devonia is a house and shop dating from the early 19th century. It features a rendered exterior over random rubble, with expressed quoins and a slate roof, complemented by brick stacks on the left and right. The building stands three storeys tall and has four bays. The late 19th-century sash windows are prominent, while the central two bays on the ground floor showcase an early 19th-century double shopfront. This shopfront includes an overall fascia, end pilasters, and multi-paned windows with slender glazing bars, leading to a central recessed doorway without pilasters, which has late 20th-century partially glazed double doors. Devonia is likely the best surviving 19th-century shopfront in Milverton. In front of the building, there is a random rubble retaining wall with brick coping, approximately 500 millimeters high, which supports the raised pavement along the road.
