Description
22 and 24 Long Street are 18th-century dwellings with shops. They have a smooth rendered exterior, a wood modillion cornice, and a stone slate roof, with a rubble back. The building features a broad frontage and a hipped roof, with two brick stacks set diagonally. It has three storeys and three windows across the front. The top floor includes three 3-light casements with hollow chamfer stone mullions and surrounds, and one horizontal glazing bar. The first floor has two double-light sash windows and one single-light sash window, all with stone drip mouldings and label stops, likely from the 19th century, and stooled stone cills. On the ground floor, the left side has a late 19th-century shop front with a recessed door and pilaster surround, plus a hood on brackets. There is a central thoroughfare and a two-bay 19th-century shop front with a central door and similar pilaster treatment as the left side, but with a recent fascia.
