Description
Number 19 on Long Street is a dwelling and shops that date from the 17th and 18th centuries. It features rough render on a timber frame and a stone slate roof. The building was likely originally constructed as two cottages and includes a large chimney stack and stone walling at the rear. It has two storeys and two windows, which contain sashes with glazing bars that have been replaced. The entrance has a six-panel fielded door, and there are two shop fronts, one of which is an early 19th-century design on an ashlar stall riser, bowed, and retains its original glazing bars on the right side. Inside, the building preserves early chamfered beams, carved posts, and a raised cruck member, indicating that parts of it could date back to the 16th century.
