Description
The Mortuary Chapel, now used as a store, was built in 1856 by Wainwright and Heard. It features coursed rubble with dressed stone details and a slate roof with coped verges. Designed in the Decorated style, the chapel has a rectangular plan. The east end showcases a broad, elaborately moulded pointed-arch doorway with a flush panelled door and scroll-decorated iron hinges. Above this doorway is a large rose window. Both the north and south sides have three bays with pointed-arch windows that include reticulated tracery and plain leaded glazing. The west end also has a large pointed-arch window in a similar style. The chapel forms a pair with the Church of England Chapel, which is still in use.
