Description

This is a bridge built in 1856 by Wainwright and Heard, carrying the approach road to the cemetery. It is constructed of coursed limestone blocks with dressed voussoirs. The bridge features a broad semi-circular arch that rises 4 metres from Cowl Street, with a string course at the base of each parapet. The parapets are topped with segmental copings and finished at each end with square pillars that have pagodal finials. The walls are buttressed with rubble, supporting the elevated road approaches, which extend 30 metres to the west and 20 metres to the east.
