Description
West View is a house built around 1840, featuring red brick in Flemish bond with limestone dressings and quoins. It has a steeply pitched slate roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles, wooden soffit boards with pierced brackets, and gable ends with barge boarding, smaller brackets, and finials. The house is designed in a picturesque villa style and stands two stories tall with three bays.
It includes full-height canted bay windows with sash frames, a moulded cornice, and depressed arch heads. The upper halves of the architraves are fluted, and there is a moulded brick and stone plinth. A string course separates the storeys, with fluted keystones above the ground floor windows and the central door. The central first-floor sash window features a depressed arch head and a rusticated surround. The entrance has a five-panel moulded and fielded door, also with a rusticated surround, and a rectangular light above with coloured glass.
To the left of the house, there is an attached single-storey conservatory, likely built at the same time as the main structure. The rear wall is made of brick and has a glass lean-to roof, with the centre of the facade projecting forward and a moulded brick plinth.
