Fives Tower. Probably late C18. Red sandstone random rubble and red brick flemish bond. Tower about 12 metres high, facade facing North, faced with brick, shaped gable of brick, slightly projecting angled, stepped wings, rear elevation of random rubble with central stepped buttress reaching to base of gable. Attached to facade, single storey storehouse with steeply pitched double Roman tile roof, randy rubble walls, gable end opening with hoist, not included. The game of fives was very popular in Somerset until the mid C19; originally played against the church tower, this is the only surviving purpose built fives tower in Taunton Deane.
