Description
Warre House is a house that likely dates from the 18th century but has an early 19th-century shell. It features a rough cast, painted brick southeast wing with a slate roof, and a thatched roof on the garden front, which is hipped. The overhanging eaves are supported by wrought iron brackets, and there are brick stacks on the southeast side. The building is designed in a picturesque style.
The plan includes a central block facing east, with an additional block attached at the southeast corner and on the north front. The north front is two stories high and has two bays. The first floor contains 20-pane sash windows, while the ground floor features canted glazed bays, many of which have arched tracery friezes and lead pentices, all set on stone plinths and approached by a flight of three steps. The entrance is located on the left return and is accessed via a gabled timber plank covered walkway, with the roof supported on brick piers leading to a gabled, shouldered projection in the boundary wall.
The entrance features a four-centred arch opening with a plank door that has studs, set in a random rubble stone wall with flat stone coping, which is approximately 2.5 meters high. This wall abuts the southeast wing of the property and continues along the north fronting the road. The wall is set back at an angle once it crosses the stream, where there is another four-centred arch doorway with a studded plank door.
