Description
April Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century, 19th century, and late 20th century. The exterior features roughcast over random rubble and brick, with a break in the wall to the right of the center. It has a half-hipped thatched roof on the right and a brick stack at the left gable end. The building's plan suggests it was originally a single cell that has been enlarged to the right and extended at the rear.
The cottage is one and a half storeys tall and features many 20th-century paned casements. There are two dormers on the first floor, and on the ground floor, there is one casement window to the left of the entrance and two more in the extension to the right. A 20th-century thatched roof half-glazed porch leads to a plank door at the entrance. Inside, there is a rafter roof and an unusual survival of a reed partition in the attic storey.
