Description

Quantock House is a cottage dating back to the 17th century, with later alterations and extensions in the late 18th century. It is constructed of roughcast over rubble, with a thatched roof that is half hipped to the left and gabled to the right, featuring coped verges. A brick stack is located to the right, and another in the centre of the left wing. The cottage originally had a two-cell, cross-passage plan aligned northeast to southwest, with its gable end facing the road. A wing was added to the southwest front, forming a T-shaped plan. The cottage is one and a half and two storeys high. The original block has a 19th-century three-light casement to the right, a three-light dormer casement to the left, a ground-floor three-light casement to the right, and a ground-floor three-light casement to the left of the entrance, with a side-hung window beyond. A 20th-century partially glazed door is set within a thatched, gabled porch supported by wooden uprights.
