Description

Woodlands Farmhouse is a farmhouse with a medieval origin, significantly altered in the early 17th century and with an 18th-century front. It is constructed of roughcast over random rubble, with hipped slate roofs and a tall brick stack to the left of the entrance. The house follows a hall house plan, running north-west to south-east, with a west wing and a south-east crosswing.

The main block has two and a half storeys and five bays. The left wing has a hipped roof with a 2-light casement window on the first floor. The central section has two 3-light and one 2-light casements on the first floor, along with a hipped dormer. The right wing, also hipped, has a segmental-headed 2-light casement window on the first floor, and a ground floor 2-light casement to the left, and 3- and 4-light casements in the centre. The front door is located centrally, with a gabled hood and pierced bargeboards.

The right return features a symmetrical five-bay facade with segmental-headed casements incorporating keystones, quoins, and a central doorcase.

The interior was not inspected, but it is reputed to contain a plaster overmantel on the first floor depicting the wounds of Christ.
