Maytree Cottage

Maytree Cottage is a lodge built in the mid-19th century. It features squared and coursed red sandstone random rubble with quoins and Bath stone dressings, topped with patterned clay tile roofs and decorative ridge tiles. The building has overhanging eaves and decorative bargeboards, along with a rebuilt brick stack at the center. Designed in the Tudor Gothic style, it is one and a half storeys tall. All windows have 19th-century leading, including a mullioned and transomed window to the left of the cross gable, which has a two-light casement and a stone slated canted bay below. The entrance is to the right, accessed through a gabled, tiled porch with decorative bargeboards supported by a column with a foliage capital. The pointed arch doorway has chamfered surrounds and an original half-glazed door. The gabled right return features a canted bay and a renewed stairlight, contributing to the building's picturesque composition.
