Description
Maker Lodge is a lodge built around 1850, constructed from sandstone rubble with limestone dressing. It features a slate roof with gable ends, crested ridge tiles, and stone raised coped verges with kneelers, along with a brick ridge stack. The building has one front room and a room behind, with stairs located at the back. It has a double depth main range with a gable end facing the front. The entrance porch is located on the right side, facing the front, with service areas in a lean-to behind it. Additional lean-tos are present at the rear and on the left side.
The lodge is designed in a Gothic style, with the front gable end featuring a canted bay that has three hollow chamfered ogee-headed lights. Above this, there is a two-light window with similar ogee-headed lights and a hood mould. The right side includes a window with a keyed arched head. The gabled porch has a segmental-headed door and extends into a one-storey service wing. The left side has an original single-storey lean-to with a window facing the front. All windows on the front have ogee heads and hood moulds. The rear elevation includes a single-storey lean-to and two stepped eight-pane sash windows, likely illuminating the stair area.
