Description
A stable building dating from the early 19th century, later altered in the 20th century and now used as a house. Constructed of rubble, rendered and finished with a hipped slate roof, it features a brick ridge stack and a stack to the front gable end. Originally part of the complex serving Tudor Cottage and Dexter's Cottage, it was built at a right angle and projects forward at the lower right end of Dexter’s Cottage. The front of the building facing the road has a two-light casement window at ground floor level and two single-light windows under the eaves; the wall is stop-chamfered to the left. The left side has two 16-pane sash windows at ground floor level, one to the right of the two-light window and featuring a thick central vertical bar. Above these are two similar divided sash windows under the eaves. The right side of the building has two 20th-century windows and a four-pane sash window at first floor level. An addition to the right creates a first-floor room above an archway, with round brick arches to both the front and rear. The room above the archway has a two-light casement to the front and rear. A buttress supports the wall of the house. The archway provides a link to a single-storey outhouse; underneath the archway is a half-glazed door. The outhouse also has a door with a brick cambered head incorporating a reused door from around 1700, with strap hinges. A lean-to structure is attached to the front of the outhouse, with a 20th-century window, door, and stack. The outer side of the outhouse features a wide entrance and a two-light window opening, while the front end has a two-light opening with a brick segmental head. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
