Description

Boundary railings and gatepiers, possibly from the 18th century, are located about 20 metres south of the gateway at the southeast corner of Lower Severalls Farmhouse. The boundary features a low ham stone ashlar wall topped with wrought-iron railings that have spearpoint tops. At the centre, there are two tall gatepiers with a square plan on chamfered plinths, cornice caps, steps, and double-necked obelisk finials. The gates match the railings and are positioned between the piers, with an additional pair of gates towards the west end. The boundary wall on the east side of the garden is made of reconstructed stone blocks, while at the southeast corner of the house, there are smaller gate piers topped with ball finials. The railings, gatepiers, and gates are included for their group value with Lower Severalls Farmhouse.
