Description
The gatepiers, wall, and railings located south of Beltingham House date from the mid-18th century, with the railings added in the 19th century. They are constructed from squared stone and wrought iron. The rusticated piers feature a moulded plinth, attached jambs with scrolled tops, moulded caps, and ball finials. Low flanking walls have arched coping and pilasters that support the railings, which are topped with lanceolate finials. To the left, there is a taller stone wall with ramped flat coping that has a later gateway cut through it, extending to the south-west angle of the domestic wing. A 20th-century metal gate and a taller wall to the right are not of interest.
