Description

White Heather Cottage is a late 16th or early 17th century bastle house that was remodelled in the 18th century. It is constructed of rubble with stone dressings, and has a stone slate roof with coped gables. A stone stack is located on the left end, while the right end features 18th-century brickwork. The cottage is two storeys high with three windows. The central doorway has been blocked. Late 19th-century sash windows are set into the ground floor, with dressed stone lintels above them, while timber lintels are above the upper windows. The central window on the upper floor is blocked. An outshut is on the right, featuring a boarded door within a 20th-century glazed porch. The left and rear walls are constructed of massive rubble with a boulder plinth. A small, blocked attic window, set within a chamfered surround, is found on the left return wall.
