Description
Partridge Nest Farmhouse is a house built in the late 18th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. It features re-used materials that likely came from Willimontswick. The building is constructed of rubble with stone dressings and has a slate roof, with stepped stone ridges and gable stacks. It has two storeys and consists of three bays on one side and one bay on the other.
The three-bay section includes a central six-panelled door set beneath a four-centred arch within a square moulded frame, which has sunk spandrels and a hoodmould. The right jamb of the door is scratched with the date '1832'. There is a porch made of tooled and margined stone with a Tudor arch, kneelers, and a coped gable. The windows are 12 and 16-pane sashes, with one window renewed, all set in 16th-century chamfered surrounds where the mullions have been removed, except for a three-light mullioned window on the ground floor to the right.
An added 19th-century bay on the right features two and three-light mullioned windows, which have tooled and margined sills and lintels. The rear elevation includes an outshut and a boarded door with a three-pane fanlight, all within a tall 16th-century chamfered surround. Inside, the farmhouse has re-used, high-quality 16th-century moulded beams and a cast iron fireplace from around 1840 on the first floor.
