Description
The washing place, located immediately to the south of Bridge Cottage, is a structure of uncertain date built from rubble stone. It features a segmental arched recess, which includes two additional arches that indicate the inflow from two streams. This structure is situated well below the road level and is found beneath the access stairs leading to the outhouse of Bridge Cottage. The washing place holds significance in the earlier history of the settlement.
