Description
Brewham Village Hall and the attached house, located on the southwest side, were originally built as a school and school house in the mid-19th century. The structure is made of Doulting stone that is cut and squared, featuring ashlar dressings. It has clay club tiles and stepped coped gables, with a gablet that includes a bell at the southeast end of the hall. The building has an "L"-shaped plan, consisting of a single-storey hall and a two-storey house. The roadside elevation has five bays, with the fifth bay being the slightly projecting gable end of the hall. The lower bays one and three have three-light chamfered mullioned windows, while bays two and four feature cambered arch doorways under a continuous stepped label. Above, bays one and three have two-light gabled windows, and bays two and four have small casements, all with small paned inserts. Bay five has a tall mullioned and transomed window that matches the others, with a quatrefoil gable vent above. The northeast elevation consists of three bays with matching three-light windows separated by offset buttresses. This building is significant in the context of the village's history.
